About the event

Charleston is a city defined by its gardens—lush, intimate, meticulously designed spaces that flourish behind wrought-iron gates and historic walls. These private oasis gardens reflect centuries of horticultural tradition shaped by the Lowcountry’s subtropical climate, diverse plant palette, and the region’s deep appreciation for outdoor living.

In this engaging panel discussion, you’ll hear from four experts who work at the intersection of art, ecology, craftsmanship, and design: Landscape Architects Elizabeth Pope and Glen Gardner, celebrated for their elegant private landscapes across the Charleston region; Tracee Lund, owner of Potted Pleasures and a specialist in custom container gardening and seasonal color; and Patrick Bradley, founder of Charleston Gardenworks, known for sourcing distinctive garden elements and crafting timeless outdoor environments. Together, this panel covers the full spectrum of garden creation and care—from concept to installation to long-term stewardship. They will share stories from the field, discuss shifts in design trends, compare planting…
