South Battery Street is home to a variety of mansions, from late 19th century Colonial Revival to early 20th century waterfront homes. South Battery Street unfolds along Charleston’s historic shoreline, where the city’s original artillery “battery” once guarded the harbor and home to a blend of Georgian, Greek Revival, and Victorian architecture, each telling a story of Charleston’s prosperity, survival, and preservation. This elegant waterfront stretch embodies more than three centuries of history and resilience.
The Charleston Festival's Street Tours are the hallmark of this annual spring festival and each unique tour will be presented twice* during the Festival, so guests have two chances to experience the tour before the end of the Festival. Guests will have the opportunity to step beyond the doorways and garden gates of Charleston to experience the city’s renowned architectural buildings, inside and out.
