About the event
By the turn of the 19th century, planters and well-to-do merchants were building grand residencies in this suburban area. Along Rutledge Avenue there are some of the finest examples of Federal, Regency, Greek Revival and early Victorian architecture in the city. At each location, our volunteer docents are available from room to room to speak more about the home's history, architectural features and design. Please note, some properties may not be handicapp accessible.
Tickets are limited are required to attend each Street Tour. Properties will be included with each ticket and not published in advance of the tour. Tickets will need to be picked up at the Ticket Office prior to the beginning of the tour. Please note: Ticket office location has moved to The Charleston Visitor Center, 375 Meeting Street, and will open to the public on Monday, March 11, 2024.
