About the event
In the summer of 2024, Dr. Andrew Agha, RPA, and his team worked to excavate the space under the Nathaniel Russell Kitchen House, expanding on previous archaeological work on the property. Thousands of artifacts were recovered during the excavations that reveal much more information about the Russell family, as well as new, vital information about the enslaved Africans who lived and worked in the building. Currently, Dr. Agha is still working in the lab to clean and analyze the thousands of artifacts, but he’s already learned so much from the site. This spring, Dr. Agha will join us for the Food for Thought Lecture Series for a discussion on his work, the artifacts found under the floorboards of the Kitchen, and how this work can enhance the interpretations of the historic house.
