About the event

Perfect for passionate gardeners and lovers of landscape design, these tours highlight the rich history and timeless elegance of Charleston’s gardens—spaces known not for vibrant blooms alone, but for their lush greenery, architectural structure, and enduring horticultural traditions. Rooted in more than three centuries of garden-making, Charleston’s landscapes reflect influences from English, French, and Caribbean design, blending symmetry, shade, texture, and evergreen plantings to create tranquil outdoor rooms suited to the city’s warm climate.

Guests will explore a curated selection of private gardens at their own pace, moving from one property to the next along Charleston’s historic streets. At each stop, knowledgeable docents will be on hand to interpret the garden’s layout, historic plant choices, signature features—such as wrought iron gates, parterres, brick pathways, and hidden courtyards—and the preservation efforts that keep these storied spaces thriving. These tours offer a rare opportunity to experience Charleston’s gardens as they were meant to be: intimate, shaded sanctuaries…
