Learning from the Lowcountry

The annual spring programming is Historic Charleston Foundation's largest educational tool. Through a newly designed Lecture Series, guests have the opportunity to engage with some of Charleston's most celebrated minds in history, architecture, culture and design. The 2024 Lecture Series will include three lecture formats for guests to choose from: Food for Thought Lectures at the Captain James Missroon House, Experts at the American Theater and Lectures on Location in a variety of engaging new venues to enhance the speaker's topic. 

Experts at the American Theater

In a NEW venue for The Charleston Festival, a select group of expert will speak at the historic American Theater. Each expert will explore a different theme or topic inspired by the Lowcountry. Speakers include Aldous Bertram, Dr. Bernie Powers and more.

Food for Thought

A favorite of the annual spring programming, the Food for Thought Luncheon Lecture Series is an opportunity to learn from a variety of authors and experts. 

Lectures on Location

In an engaging NEW format for The Charleston Festival, we hit the road for this special series of educational programs. Lectures on Location invite guests to a unique location where they will meet our expert for an intriguing and unique program.

Walking History Tours

Step back in time with historic walking tours through Charleston's cobblestone streets and moss-draped avenues of one of America's most charming and historically rich cities. With a variety of tours and historic topics to choose from, dive deeper into the stories behind gates of historic Charleston. 

Workshops & Demonstrations
